DBT Mindfulness
Observe | Describe | Participate
Observe, describe, and participate are the keys to mindfulness in DBT. Learn multiple ideas for mindfulness techniques from DBT.
Mindfulness in DBT focuses on non-judgmental awareness, while being aware of this present moment. The focus is on observing, describing without judgment, and fully participating in the present.

Wheel of Awareness
The wheel of awareness is from Dan Seigel and interpersonal neurobiology. It is a mindfulness technique that includes the entire body. Dr. Seigel walks you through a deep mindfulness practice exploring every part of the body and mind.
The Wheel of Awareness is my favorite mindfulness technique. Learning the Wheel of Awareness in stages is a good way to learn the entire practice. This is how I started and now I enjoy the full practice on my morning walks.
For me, it helps organize my mind bringing a sense of peace and an awareness of my body, mind, and environment.
Somatic Experiencing
Learn mindfulness from a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner who focuses on the whole body and learn new levels of body awareness.
Qi Gong
Qigong is a mindfulness practice utilizing movement, breathing, self-massage, sound, and focused intent. Qi means “subtle breath” or “vital energy” and Gong is a "skill cultivated through steady practice."
Mindful Walking
Walking mindfulness is a wonderful technique that adds mobility with mindfulness. Enjoy learning about this simple, yet powerful technique.
